Το έργο εντάσσεται στην 1η πρόσκληση Συνεργατικών Σχηματισμών Καινοτομίας – Φορέας Αρωγός, και υπάγεται στον Άξονα Προτεραιότητας 01. με τίτλο ‘Ανάπτυξη Επιχειρηματικότητας με Τομεακές Προτεραιότητες’. Εμπίπτει στο θεματικό τομέα προτεραιότητας, Πολιτισμός – Τουρισμός – Πολιτιστικές & Δημιουργικές Βιομηχανίες, με στόχο την ενίσχυση τομέων έντασης, με αποτέλεσμα τη δημιουργία προϊόντων υψηλήςπροστιθέμενης αξίας, μέσω διαφοροποίησης.

Το υπόβαθρο του παρόντος έργου αφορά στην ανάγκη για ενίσχυση της Τεχνολογικής Υποδομής των ΜΜΕ, με επενδύσεις σε Τεχνολογίες Πληροφορικής & Επικοινωνιών, προκειμένου να εισαχθούν καινοτόμες τεχνολογίες προώθησης και προβολής των παραγόμενων τουριστικών προϊόντων και υπηρεσιών. Παράλληλα, μέσα από τις ανάγκες της σύγχρονης αγοράς, οι επιχειρήσεις αναγνωρίζουν την αναγκαιότητα περί συμμετοχής σε δίκτυα (clusters) προκειμένου να δημιουργήσουν νέα δίκτυα διανομής πιο ισχυρά και ανταγωνιστικά. Η πρωτοτυπία του Δικτύου Τουρισμού Υπαίθρου έγκειται στην οργανωτική και τεχνολογική καινοτομία.
