Rural Tourism Cluster

The epaithros+ Cluster at the conference on “Hiking Routes and Sustainable Tourism Development in Asterousia”, in Agioi Deka!

The Municipality of Gortyna is organising a conference on “Hiking Routes and Sustainable Tourism Development in Asterousia”, as part of the development of a network of hiking routes “Asterousia Trails”.

The project involves the creation and promotion of a a network of 11 hiking routes in Asterousia with signage, mapping initiatives and promotional and information campaigns for residents and visitors, with the ultimate aim of protecting nature, promoting nature-based tourism and ensuring the sustainable development of the area.

The event will take place at the Agioi Deka Town Hall, on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at 11:00, with the aim of informing the local community, business owners and stakeholders in the Asterousia region.

The Rural Tourism Cluster epaithros+ will also be there, with a speech by Dr Chryssa Pagalou, General Manager of ETAM S.A. and Coordinator of the Cluster, presenting the role of epaithros+ and the Rural Greece platform in promoting the Asterousia trails destination.

The initiative is being implemented as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0, with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

The project entitled “Rural Tourism Cluster epaithros+” is being implemented under the “Research-Innovate” Action of the “Competitiveness” Operational Programme of the NSRF 2021–2027 and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and national resources.
