
The application “Development of a Digital Navigation Guide in the Countryside of Rhodes” of the Municipality of Rhodes, entitled Routes n’ Rhodes, was distinguished with a silver award in the category “Outdoors (Naturalism)” at the Tourism Awards 2025.
The award ceremony took place on May 12, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Athens, in the presence of important representatives of tourism, local government and digital technology, highlighting the importance of the Tourism Awards and confirming the institutional nature of the awards.
On behalf of the Municipality of Rhodes, present at the ceremony were: Dr. Loukas Moustakas, Deputy Head of the Planning and Organization Directorate, and Christos Panas, Deputy Head of the Information Technology and New Technologies Directorate.
The aim of the project was to provide visitors to Rhodes with an alternative outdoor tourism experience, while also offering them the opportunity to gain valuable information about the history and nature of the island. Through the Routes n’ Rhodes application, visitors to the island can navigate 17 cycling and walking routes, obtaining a lot of relevant information in an easy way!
The application is an important tool-bridge between recreation, sustainability, culture and the natural environment. This innovation highlights the constant effort of the Municipality of Rhodes to enhance sustainable tourism development, to attract visitors seeking high aesthetic experiences and to offer the island’s residents a new way to discover the natural and cultural heritage of their place.
The project “Development of a Digital Navigation Guide in the Countryside of Rhodes” was implemented within the framework of the Dodecanese LEADER / CLLD Local Development Programme 2014–2020.
The project was implemented by Aegean Solutions – Consultants for Innovative Applications & New Technologies S.A. (Aegean Solutions S.A.), with the advisory support of the Sustainable Islands Regional Authority “DAPHNI”.
