In an effort to highlight Europe’s natural and cultural treasures and to strengthen the sustainable development of regions, the Policy Learning Platform is organizing a webinar on 10 October 2025, 10:30-12:00 (CEST) entitled Trails and Routes for Tourism Development.
The seminar focuses on how cultural and natural trails can function as tools to promote the local identity, history and heritage of a place. At the same time, it emphasizes the role of trails in strengthening the economy of the region by increasing visitor numbers, creating potential sources of income for local communities and promoting social cohesion, offering employment and participation opportunities.
The webinar program includes keynote speeches, such as that of Crina Zugrav Project Manager of the European Institute of Cultural Routes, and presentations of good practices from projects such as Bicycle Network West Flanders and Contrei Live within the DEPART and CHERRY projects respectively. Speakers will talk about how these projects leverage routes and networks to promote the tourism product with an emphasis on quality, accessibility and sustainability.
The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to discuss challenges and opportunities in implementing such initiatives.
