Report: Greece is the World’s Most Beautiful Country in 2026

Greece has been named the world’s most beautiful country for 2026, according to a new report by the World Population Review.

The “Most Beautiful Countries in the World 2026” list was compiled using data from international publications and magazines including Condé Nast Traveler, Ranker, Rough Guides, and Travel + Leisure.

Across these rankings, Greece placed first in the 2025 US News “Most Scenic Countries” list, second in Ranker’s 2023 ranking, and third in Condé Nast Traveler’s “Most Beautiful Countries” list.

“Greece could probably make this list based upon the island of Santorini alone, whose iconic white buildings with bright blue domes are virtually guaranteed to appear on any photographic essay of places with beautiful scenery,” the report mentions.

Meanwhile, mainland Greece is renowned for iconic landmarks such as the Parthenon, the ancient ruins of Delphi with their dramatic mountainside views, and the monasteries of Meteora.

The country’s beaches are equally diverse, featuring white, black, pink, and red sand set against crystal-blue Mediterranean waters, rugged mountains, and striking rock formations.

New Zealand, Italy among top-ranked destinations

The list features destinations from around the world, highlighting some of the globe’s most picturesque locations.

New Zealand follows in second place, celebrated for its dramatic landscapes and breathtaking scenery, which have made it a favorite filming location for fantasy films. Italy ranks third, recognized for its lush natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, while Spain and Switzerland complete Europe’s strong presence in the top five.

Thailand, Australia, Portugal, Japan, Costa Rica, Iceland, Finland, Peru, and Morocco are also featured among the world’s most beautiful countries.
