Thursday 28 March and Friday 29 March, Heraklion, Crete
Two major events focusing on innovation, organised under the auspices of the Region of Crete, will take place on Thursday 28 March and Friday 29 March 2024 in Heraklion, Crete, at the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH).
The first event is the two-day innovation conference entitled “Innovation Crete 5.0: ”Innovation in Crete today and the stakeholders supporting it”, which is being organised for the fifth time this year, on 28 and 29 March at 17:00 at the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, Kastellaki Hall.
The conference offers a significant opportunity to learn about Crete’s innovation initiatives and features 11 panels, 9 workshops and 96 speakers, including 37 key stakeholders and funding bodies. Its thematic areas include early-stage financing and funding bodies, funds from the Innovation Window, early-stage innovation support structures, Crete’s innovation hub and its contribution to the regional ecosystem, the activities of international companies within the Cretan ecosystem, institutional support bodies for entrepreneurship, innovation in the agri-food sector, development opportunities for research teams and start-ups in the health sector, European digital innovation hubs, and the role of women in business leadership.
Alongside the conference, nine workshops will be held in the Karouzos Hall of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, covering topics such as fundraising, intellectual property, smartHEALTH: Innovative Digital Health Services, communication with web professionals for successful digital initiatives, the outcomes of policy workshops, innovation in the circular economy, innovation in tourism, strategies for commercialising research outcomes, and sustainable entrepreneurship in Crete.
On Friday 29 March at 18:30, epaithros will take part in the sixth of nine workshops, as part of the two-day Innovation Grete 5.0 conference at the Karouzou Hall in the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, focusing on innovation in tourism in Crete.
As part of the workshop, Dr Chryssa Pagalou, the coordinator of the Rural Tourism Network “epaithros”, will present this innovative collaborative initiative in the field of rural tourism, the efforts to enhance its members’ tourism products and services, and the support provided to its members, primarily through the technological platform it offers. It is the first umbrella organisation for rural tourism in Greece, which develops, strengthens and enriches the tourism product.
