On March 20-22, the Pan-Cretan Traditional Cooking Competition will take place in Heraklion

On 20, 21 and 22 March 2026, the 8th Pan-Cretan Traditional Cooking Competition will be held at the Crete International Exhibition Centre, at the American Base in Gournes, organised by the Chefs Club of Crete, with the aim of showcasing Cretan cuisine and the island’s local produce.

The event aims to be a benchmark for the culinary world of Crete, showcasing authentic local cuisine and the creativity of both professional and young chefs. At the same time, it highlights the potential of Cretan gastronomy at a time when gastronomy is a key pillar of cultural and tourism development.

Professional chefs, cultural associations, cookery schools, gastronomy students and school pupils will take part in the competition, presenting dishes inspired by Cretan cuisine and making the most of high-quality local produce.

The participants will be assessed by a panel of leading professionals in the field, in an environment characterised by high standards that fosters knowledge, creativity and healthy competition.

As part of the event, parallel events and live presentations by cultural associations will also take place, strengthening the link between gastronomy and the traditions and culture of Crete.

It is worth noting that the event forms part of a wider programme of initiatives aimed at promoting Crete as a European Region of Gastronomy for 2026, thereby enhancing the island’s international profile as a major gastronomic destination in the Mediterranean.
