Naxos has topped the international list of the best travel destinations for 2026, as formed after the leading WTM tourism exhibition in London.
Naxos has won an international distinction, being included in the list of the best destinations in the world for 2026, as formed based on the participation of tourist areas in the recent leading international WTM tourism exhibition.
The results emerged after extensive on-site research by blogger Marta Ostoja, awarded as “the most influential talent on the web”, who combined the new travel trends presented at the major tourism exhibition in London in combination with the hundreds of trips she has made to 40 countries around the world.
According to the travel blog “Where Life is Great” which is read by hundreds of thousands of couples and friends of travel activities, Naxos takes first place, followed by Warsaw, the Costa Brava of Spain, Sicily, the Mexican Riviera Nayarit, Bahia of Brazil, Sharjah of the UAE, Okinawa in Japan and Iceland.
The columnist who had visited Naxos at the invitation of the Municipality explains that “Naxos is the island of golden beaches, where time slows down and the soul breathes. Of all the places I visited in 2025, Naxos is the one that quietly dug into my heart and categorically refused to leave. The island of Ariadne is everything you wish the Greek summer to be.
Golden beaches that seem to stretch into infinity, crystal clear turquoise waters, small whitewashed villages nestled in the mountains and taverns where the food is so good it moves you. Moreover, there is something about the island that makes it ideal for families. The locals love children, the restaurants never make you feel unwelcome and the beaches are ideal, so that even toddlers can play safely.”
With an eye on the next season, the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras, states that “our goal is to strengthen extroversion with continuous actions that systematically bring us to the forefront, such as this first place in this new international list.
Naxos and the Small Cyclades represent authentic Greece through its picturesque villages, genuine hospitality, special customs and traditions, unparalleled natural beauty, unique activities and unique local products. For 2025, Naxos achieved a new record of arrivals with an increase of 30.9% in air arrivals and 5.8% in ferry trips, compared to last year for the tourist season,” said the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Naxos and Small Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras.
