Paths were cleaned, deforestation was done, damage was repaired, as well as information signs were placed, directional signs were placed, and important points were highlighted.
The Municipality of Lassithi Plateau announced the execution of the contract for the project “Improvement of Mountaineering and Hiking Trails” with co-financing from the Recovery Fund.
The interventions that were implemented concern the cleaning of paths, deforestation, restoration of damage, as well as the placement of information signs, directions and highlighting important points.
The routes that have been improved are:
- Agia Pelagia – Chavgas – Agia Pelagia (7 km.)
- Vasiliko – Myrgiousa (2.5 km.)
- Makarouni Mantra – Strovili Refuge (1.5 km.)
- Limnakaro – Avarsami – Afentis (7 km.)
Visitors can now enjoy clean and safe routes, while the area will highlight its natural and cultural heritage, boosting mountaineering and hiking tourism and the local economy.
“The Municipality of Lassithi Plateau continues to invest in projects that bring nature closer to citizens and visitors, while protecting the environment,” a relevant announcement states.
