The “secret” beauties of Karpathos have recently been highlighted by media from Germany, UK and Poland. The German Esquire reports that “while mass tourism has penetrated many Greek islands, Karpathos has managed to maintain its authenticity and serene charm. There is something wild and unspoiled about the island and this is precisely what makes it so attractive in 2025. Rugged mountains cross the island, meeting crystal-clear, turquoise waters that look as if they have been edited for Instagram. Hiking and running on the island is a dreamy experience that is highly recommended for those who love exploration”.
The British Mirror likens Karpathos to “a precious hidden gem reminiscent of the Caribbean”, while emphasizing that “unlike the crowded islands of Santorini and Mykonos that suffer from overtourism, Karpathos is one of the few Greek islands that has not been worn down by mass tourists. Hidden in the southeastern Aegean, this enchanting island rightfully emerges as one of Europe’s best-kept travel secrets. For those who want a more active vacation, Karpathos is full of routes that offer stunning views of the island”.
The leading Polish tourist website TTG also echoes this sentiment, describing Karpathos in an extensive tribute as “a true paradise for lovers of beautiful beaches, Greek culture and quality recreation” and adding that “the sense of the unexplored, the breathtaking landscapes with stunning beaches, the charm of the unpretentious, the deep unchanging tradition, the rich Carpathian local cuisine, the range of alternative activities from diving to hiking and running, and the quality tourist services with accommodation, restaurants and tourist businesses that are no less than other popular destinations are the reasons that make Karpathos truly unbeatable.”
With the aim of strengthening extroversion, the Municipality of Karpathos is implementing a multifaceted program to promote known and unknown aspects of the island through journalistic missions, international media briefings, constant contacts with airlines and tour operators, international exhibition participations, social media development and online campaigns using original videos starring visitors from abroad. “Our concern is to maintain our authenticity while evolving the destination with new experiences,” explains the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Karpathos, Tasos Milios.
In this context, the running event Karpathos Run 2025 raceid.com/en/races/13329/about is being organized on May 24, which will combine running and holidays on the second largest island of the Dodecanese. The races will include three alternative routes of one, five and ten kilometers in length that will cross beautiful spots in nature with views of picturesque settlements, historical sites and exotic beaches.
