The Municipality of Gortyna is organizing a series of informational events aimed at presenting the “Asterousia Trails,” the hiking trail network of the Asterousia Mountains.

The project concerns the creation and promotion of a network of 11 hiking routes in the Asterousia area, including interventions for signage, mapping, and actions for the promotion and information of visitors, with the ultimate goal of protecting nature, strengthening nature-based tourism, and supporting the mild development of the region.

The first informational event will take place at the Municipal Building of Asimi (KEP) in Asimi at Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 19:00, with the aim of informing the local community and stakeholders of the Asterousia area.

Similar informational activities will follow on May 8, 15, and 16, as well as on June 6, 7, 13, and 14, at other locations across the wider Asterousia region.

Participation in all events is free of charge for the public.

The event is implemented within the framework of the project “SUB1a. Creation of a National Network of Trails and Hiking Routes” (OPS code TA 5190260), under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
