
The Municipality of Gortyna is organising a a series of information events aimed at presenting the “Asterousia Trails,” the hiking trail network of the Asterousia Mountains.
The project involves the creation and promotion of a network of 11 hiking routes in the Asterousia area, including measures relating to signage, mapping and initiatives to promote the area and provide information to visitors, with the ultimate aim of protecting nature, strengthening nature-based tourism and supporting the sustainable development of the region.
The first information session will take place at the Asimi Town Hall (KEP) in Asimi at Tuesday, 5 May 2026, at 19:00, with the aim of informing the local community and stakeholders in the Asterousia area.
Similar information events will follow on 8, 15 and 16 May, as well as on 6, 7, 13 and 14 June, and at other locations across the wider Asterousia region.
Participation in all events is free of charge for the public.
The event is being organised as part of the project “SUB1a. Creation of a National Network of Trails and Hiking Routes” (OPS code TA 5190260), under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
The contractor for the project is the company ETAM S.A., with the support of the Rural Tourism Cluster epaithros+, whilst TEDA – Asterousia Conservation Association is a member of the network.
