How is it applied?
Green Adventure is a boutique travel agency based in the southeastern part of Slovenia, strategically located between Ljubljana and Zagreb. It specializes in creating quality adventure tourism packages in nature, offering authentic experiences to small, flexible groups.
In the context of its operation, it has designed a variety of special and unique nature experience tourism packages, which are briefly described below:
- Green River Kayaking: Kayaking on the country’s rivers, for beginners and experienced.
- Bela Krajina Ethnic Experience: A cultural journey that combines history, nature and local tradition. Visitors are guided to a farmhouse by a river and experience the daily life of centuries past through interactive presentations and visits to an open-air museum. It includes an introduction to local crafts, traditional flavors and local products, as well as participation in a construction workshop. The experience concludes with a canoe ride on the river and a photo shoot in traditional costumes.
- Bear Watching: For visitors aged 15 and over and led by a hunter (with a license) – wildlife specialist.
- “Survival in the Wild”: Experience that teaches basic survival skills, such as building a shelter, lighting a fire, finding water, identifying edible plants and navigating the forest. It is offered at different levels, from day training to three-day missions and is ideal for both individual participants and groups.
- “Mysterious Primeval Forest”: Hiking experience in virgin forests, with an emphasis on observing wildlife and understanding ecosystems.
- Fly Fishing Paradise: Fishing in the country’s rivers, guided by experienced guides. Fly Fishing is a fishing technique that uses artificial bait (called a “fly”) to imitate insects or other small creatures that fish eat, mainly trout and salmon.
- Wild Pike Expedition: Pike fishing experience.
- “Adriatic Fishing Escape”: An Adriatic fishing experience, guided by experienced local captains. Participants fish for fish such as grouper, horse mackerel, sea bass and tuna.
- Vineyard eBiking: Electric cycling through vineyards and picturesque villages, with stops for wine tasting and local delicacies.
- Fish & Fly Trio: A complete package that combines fishing, kayaking and cycling, offering a complete adventure experience.
It is noted that all activities are accompanied by local gastronomy, professional guidance and transportation, while the possibility of designing personalized team building programs in nature is also given, strengthening team spirit and cooperation through experiential, green activities.
In addition to the special experiences it offers, Green Adventure has set as its main priority the support of a sustainable, responsible and meaningful way of traveling. Guided by the principles of sustainability, locality and social responsibility, it invests in actions and practices that respect the environment, strengthen the local community and promote a more conscious tourism. In this context, its indicative actions are listed below:
Environmental Protection
- It implements a specific sustainability policy aimed at minimizing the negative impacts of tourism on the environment. The fundamental documents that guide the company’s operations and relations with its partners and visitors are the “Code of Ethics”, the “Sustainability Commitment” and the “Quality Plan”.
- The “Code of Ethics” commits the company to providing high-quality services with professionalism, consistency and respect for customers, the environment and local communities. According to the code, the company is committed to operating in complete safety and compliance with applicable industry regulations, while investing in the continuous maintenance of its equipment to ensure the reliability and safety of its activities. Furthermore, it promotes its services with transparency and offers experiences that respect and highlight local culture, gastronomy and the natural environment. Also, with a focus on sustainability, it works to protect wildlife, flora and fauna, contributing to the preservation of natural heritage for future generations.
- The “Sustainability Commitment” refers to principles and rules that the company itself adheres to that are in line with the principles of sustainable development. Indicatively, it states that it does not offer experiences involving wild animals in captivity, avoids the use of single-use plastics and offers local and organic food. It also supports environmental organizations that work on habitat restoration, endangered species and forest protection, with particular emphasis on the conservation of species in accordance with the regulations of the Red List of Threatened Species of Slovenia.
- The “Quality Plan” accurately describes all the necessary steps before the visitor’s arrival, during their experience and after their departure. It is worth mentioning that the plan, among other things, also includes the evaluation of the services provided, through a questionnaire by the visitor.
- It is a member of the Travelife community, a recognized sustainability accreditation program in the tourism sector. Within this framework, it adheres to the “Codes of Conduct” that have been determined by this community and has issued 6 individual codes for each activity it offers (general instructions, guided tours, fishing, cycling, river safaris, food and drink) in order to strengthen the responsibility and awareness of the visitor.
- It works systematically to reduce its carbon footprint. Specifically, it selects local accommodations for its customers that meet environmental standards, suggests to the visitor the use of means such as trains and buses, providing the necessary information he needs, promotes the use of bicycles, offering the company itself relevant rental information, promotes on its platform popular car sharing services offered in Slovenia (an electric car sharing service, which is available in major cities in Slovenia and a vehicle sharing platform that connects travelers heading in the same direction). Finally, it recommends the choice of electric or hybrid vehicles, in the case of car rental.
- It participates in the Slovenian Tourist Board’s initiative “Commitment to Eliminate Single-Use Plastics from Slovenian Tourism”, within the framework of which it is committed to reducing the consumption of waste, energy, water and paper, as well as to reducing the printing of advertising material by at least 50%. Specifically, the company actively applies the principles of “reduce, reuse and recycle”, taking measures such as saving energy and water (light bulbs, energy-saving devices, water-saving taps), using recycled paper, promoting sustainable transportation, reducing and separating waste and using energy-efficient equipment.
Local Development and Social Responsibility
