Free rural tourism training program from ESCAPE2

The ESCAPE2 project offers free training to those involved in rural tourism!

ESCAPE2 on “Supporting the Development of a Transnational Thematic Tourism Strategy for Rural Areas of Europe” is a European project (Erasmus+) that aims to support the development of a transnational thematic strategy for rural tourism in rural areas of Europe. It was implemented in the period 2020-2023 and the main objectives of the project were:

  • addressing the challenges faced by rural areas, such as unemployment, low productivity, social/economic isolation and marginalization,
  • supporting the creation of innovative tourism services that integrate local culture, natural and cultural environment, gastronomy, traditional products, etc. and
  • the development of skills and competencies in rural tourism operators to improve services, marketing, communication and sustainability

Based on the program, a series of thematic training modules were created that cover various topics of rural tourism and aim to raise awareness and provide practical tools to people interested in tourism development in rural areas.

The thematic modules are posted online and free to watch, in 9 languages, including Greek. The thematic subjects they cover are the following:

  • Module 1 – Potential for Rural Tourism in your Region
  • Module 2 – Different Models of Rural Tourism: The tourist product
  • Module 3 – Rural Tourism Business Strategy
  • Module 4 – Stimulating demand
  • Module 5 – Accessing resources
  • Module 6 – Collaborations and communities
  • Module 7 – Environmental Sustainability
  • Module 8 – Digitalization and Being Commercially Available Online
  • Module 9 – Accessibility and Inclusiveness
