As part of the JolnOuT project, Neurolingo successfully completed the implementation of the chatbot. The work began with the analysis of dialogues, the identification of entities, and the recognition of user intent. Through this work, the terminology and syntactic rules required to populate the NLP platform were determined. At the same time, the NLU mechanism and dialogue management core were designed to implement the dialogue flow, and connections were established with external systems. The work was carried out for the maritime transport chatbot and the search for outdoor tourism services and activities based on epaithros data.

Specifically, the tasks involved in developing the epaithros chatbot included:
- Analysis and study of dialogue for route search and information on outdoor tourism activities.
- Analysis – Identification of entities, terms and intentions. Recording of syntactic patterns in which these appear in dialogues.
- Linguistic Rule Formation – Enrichment of the Mnemosyne Linguistic Background.
- Development of the Natural Language Understanding (NLU) module of Mnemosyne to process user-generated statements in chatbot dialogues.
- Development of a REST JSON web service providing NLU functionality for integration with other third-party chatbot systems outside the current one.
- Development of the chatbot’s dialogue engine responsible for passing on dialogue proposals.
- Development of the Natural Language Generation (NLG) module of the chatbot, which is responsible for managing the flow of the dialogue, interfacing with the knowledge base, and generating responses.
- Development of the Knowledge Base module, where route data and information on outdoor tourism activities are stored.
- Testing the correctness of NLU chatbot results and making improvements to increase the accuracy of feature extraction for user-generated statements.
- Testing the accuracy of dialogue interactions with the chatbot and implementing improvements to its mechanisms to increase success rates.
- Interoperable connections with external systems, epaithros databases and maritime transport information.
The project entitled “Joint Innovative Activities for Outdoor Tourism“, with the distinctive title: ”JolnOuT“, is being implemented within the framework of the Action ”Cooperative Innovation Formations/SCC – 2nd Call: Businesses“ and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by national resources under the Operational Programme ”Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPANEK)” of the NSRF 2014–2020″ (Project code: 2CL-0359457).
