As part of the JoinOuT project, an e-learning platform was created for the members of the e-paithros Network. The training materials are designed with a focus on sustainable development and rural tourism.
The 7 training modules of epaithros/JoinOuT
The educational programme of the JolnOuT e-learning platform was developed by the IDEA Training project team. It is structured into seven (7) modules designed to cover the following alternative forms of tourism using an interdisciplinary and intersectional approach:
- Agrotourism
- Ecotourism & Geotourism
- Gastronomic Tourism & Wine Tourism
- Marine and Diving Tourism
- Health & Wellness Tourism
- Sports Tourism
- Cultural Tourism
The JoinOuT material reflects a scientifically based and dynamic process that complies with digital accessibility regulations for people with disabilities. The seven (7) training modules were designed in line with the most recent studies and international literature on alternative tourism and sustainable development. A key factor in the development of the final material was the quantitative and qualitative data collected via anonymous online questionnaires and focus groups, which were designed to investigate the educational needs of the members of the e-paithros Network.
Curriculum Design for the 7 JoinOuT Modules
Sustainable development is the common interdisciplinary focus of the curriculum design. All seven (7) educational modules of the JoinOuT Programme adopt an intersectional approach to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN for 2030 and endorsed by the Member States of the European Union. The design of the curriculum and the creation of the online interactive materials reflect a scientific and dynamic process that respects and promotes the principles of digital accessibility and inclusion.
In addition, the JolnOuT curriculum and e-learning platform offers the following:
- Study Guide and Syllabus
- Interactive and multimedia content.
- Self-assessment exercises/Quizzes of varying difficulty
- Bibliography
- Glossary of specific terms
- Certificate of Attendance
