The Cretan Mountain Leaders Association was established in 2023 and represents certified professional Mountain Leaders operating throughout Crete. Currently, the Association has 50 members throughout the island.
One of the statutory objectives of the Association is the promotion and development of hiking tourism in Crete, but also throughout the country, as it is a sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism model, which contributes to the truly gentle development of areas with rich natural beauty and lower levels of development compared to others.
We believe that, through the epaithros Cluster, our Association can contribute substantially to this kind of real development for areas of our island, through outdoor activities. The Association can support the Cluster’s goals with our expertise and experience from the field, so that the appropriate tools can be created that will support the members of the epaithros Cluster. At the same time, it can contribute to the development of strategies to strengthen this type of tourism.
