The international travel magazine *Condé Nast Traveler* is turning its attention to Crete, highlighting the island as a destination that offers a different and more authentic travel experience outside the peak summer season.

In a major feature on Greece outside the peak tourist season, entitled “The Quiet Magic of Greece in the Off Season”, the magazine showcases destinations that take on a different character once the summer crowds have subsided. Among them is Crete, with a special focus on Chania and the spring experience.

The publication reveals a different side to the island, linking a visit during the spring months with hiking, nature and even skiing in the Cretan mountains. Crete is thus presented beyond the traditional model of summer holidays, as a place that offers experiences capable of attracting visitors even outside the peak season.

This approach is of particular interest at a time when extending the tourist season is a key issue for Greek tourism. The hinterland, the natural environment, gastronomy and outdoor activities can complement the strong “sun and sea” offering, thereby expanding the island’s tourist footprint over time.

Condé Nast Traveler also highlights Greece’s potential during the off-peak months. Tasting fresh olive oil after the harvest, local festivals, gastronomy, outdoor activities and getting a glimpse into the daily lives of locals are presented as experiences that take on a different value when the large summer crowds are absent.

This tribute also showcases Paros, Santorini, Corfu and Athens, across different seasons and travel experiences.

For Crete, however, the message is clear. Greece’s largest island is not just a popular summer destination. It boasts the natural environment, mountains, hinterland, cuisine and local identity needed to support a more extended tourist season.

International promotion, meanwhile, serves to reinforce precisely this image: a Crete that can offer a variety of experiences throughout the year and be explored by visitors at a more leisurely pace, away from the pressure and crowds of the peak summer season.
