The company was founded out of the need to satisfy the demand for the best quality olive oil around Sitia, which had to be produced and bottled according to strict quality standards. Spearheaded by the Holy Monastery of Toplou and with the participation of 23 olive producers, after numerous meetings and discussions, this became a reality in November 1999.

In the olive groves, the well-known variety “Koroneiki” is cultivated.

The internationally acclaimed Extra Virgin Olive oil is derived from fresh and healthy olive trees in Sitia (PDO Sitia Lassithiou Crete), renowned for cultivating some of the world's finest olives. The Monastery of Toplou follows strict guidelines for organic farming and ecological balance on their land. The exceptional virgin olive oil comes from local farmers in the area as well as producers from all over Crete.

The goal of the collaboration between BIO-SITIA and the Monastery of Toplou is the production of excellent quality organic and conventional products.

ByRaKi flavor was created with a source of inspiration from the classic Cretan raki - tsikoudia and the traditional liqueur. The Cretan spirit enriched with 25 different flavors from the Greek countryside, in many different ways to enjoy it. Aiming at innovation, ByRaKi flavor has been certified by the Industrial Property Organization.

The Cooperative Community “Apo Koinou” is one of the oldest social and solidarity enterprises in Greece. It was founded in 2013 in Heraklion by people who shared a common vision of a world based on trust, human relationships, and collectivity. Its aim is to promote a fair, ethical, and ecological way of life, harmoniously integrated into the natural environment, with respect for sustainability and a deep connection to the arts and culture.

“Apo Koinou” seeks to develop a self-sufficient community through small-scale production using natural methods, low-intensity, human-centered services, alternative education, and the preservation of local traditions. They are active across the entire agri-food chain from cultivating agricultural products to delivering them directly to households and creating unique packaged goods that are rooted in, yet creatively renew, the values of the Cretan dietary culture. At the same time, they offer dining, agrotourism, and cooking services at their visitable fields and processing facility, proposing an alternative food model in response to contemporary challenges.

Diamantakis Winery is a modern, family-owned estate established in 2007. It is situated to the south-west of Heraklion in Crete, near the picturesque village of Kato Asites, nestled in the foothills of Mount Psiloritis at an altitude of 450 metres. Building on a long-standing family tradition in viticulture, the winery combines local heritage with state-of-the-art production methods. Kassaki Charcuterie is a traditional charcuterie based in Galatas, in the municipality of Minoa Pediadas. Since 1999, we have been crafting pure, handmade meat products with passion and dedication, based on the authentic recipes of our ancestors and using high-quality ingredients. In the very place where our family tradition began and continues to this day, “Avli” was also established – a venue open to visitors that offers tastings and culinary experiences of Cretan cuisine. Our meats are paired with produce from local producers, and each dish tells a story of authentic flavours and a long-standing gastronomic tradition.

The reason we chose to become a member of the epaithros+ Cluster is to network with related businesses, to promote our village (Galatas), which has a rich gastronomic heritage, and to showcase our services and products, which have been part of our family tradition for four generations.

“Maggiri” the homemade traditional pasta workshop, faithful to tradition, was created to offer you pure and high-quality pasta, without preservatives and colouring impurities, kneaded with brandfresh eggs, goat's and sheep's milk from local producers

“maggiri” was the name of an old Cretan pasta which was cooked in a very specific way: half of it was boiled the other half fried and then altogether stirred in the broth of the first half. It was served like thick soup with lots of cheese on top.

Our goal is for products with high nutritional value and for this reason, our pasta dries out many hours at low temperature and thus their nutrients cannot be altered

An attempt to pass down to new generational the traditional pasta of our land and to awaken tasteful memories to the olders.

“Oliving” is about a project, offering olive oil outdoor experience for small private groups. For most of us the olive tree and olive oil is connected with ancient Greek myths, biblical history, the Olympic games and Mediterranean Diet. For us, olive oil is a unique experience that captures all senses. 

“Oliving” olive oil tasting, takes place beside ancient olive trees, in a field uninterrupted by human presence for centuries, just 8km from Rethymno city. 

The experience includes an all around visit of history and taste of olive oil in Crete, from Minoan to our days. Tasting, learning, recognizing the aromas, perfumes tastes of the stories that exist in different olive oils one not only tastes the juice of an ancient life form but also the geography of the area of where the tree is.

For 8 years now, I have been processing the goods of our family farm in Varipetro, creating organic, sugar-free sweets from Cretan grape juice. The idea of quality food has troubled me since the time I was raising my children. I heard the value of the Cretan diet in detail and when I thought about offering my sweets to the market, I replaced the sugar with Cretan grapes. My desire is to produce 100% Cretan products, respecting the environment and striving for sustainable development. The distinctions in Greece and abroad, as well as the collaborations with important bodies, have given me the strength, extroversion and joy to continue my innovative path, believing that Greece and Crete can become the boutique, organic orchard of Europe!

THEAGI is a premium Greek company that cultivates organic herbs and aromatic plants, which, thanks to Crete’s unique microclimate, have a high essential oil content and are renowned for their rich, authentic aromas. They are harvested and processed by hand, with care and respect for the product, whilst drying takes place naturally in specially designed areas. At the same time, and with a vision of continuous development, THEAGI is planning its immediate expansion with new premium product ranges, including honey, oil and fleur de sel in unique blends with its own herbs, always bringing the authentic flavours and beneficial properties of the Cretan countryside directly to your table.

Our participation in the epaithros+ Cluster aims to improve our networking with other producers, boost the international reach of our Cretan organic herbs and develop our business through the exchange of know-how and best practices for sustainable agricultural development.

The company was created in 2013 and is based in Psychro of the Lasithi Plateau. It is active in the specialized production and marketing of ceramics, in the collection, processing and distribution of aromatic herbs and plants of the Dikti mountain range, as well as in the production, standardization and marketing of extra virgin olive oil. In addition to the above, in a different space, a theme park related to Greek mythology has been created, which presents elements from the myths, traditions and local culture of the wider region of Crete. The theme park is unique in its kind in Crete and offers the visitors the possibility of automatic tour in 4 languages for about an hour, while special sound systems that frame it offer a sense of immediacy.
