BIBON, the first “Bibliotecha Oenologica” in Greece, is being made a reality by the Boutaris Foundation, in collaboration with the Public Central Library of Veria and the non-profit civil partnership of Future Library.
The official opening on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, is a milestone for Greek Wine and its culture, while also shining a spotlight on the Heroic City of Naoussa, a wine region with a huge contribution to the development of viticulture and winemaking in our country.
The listed building at 17 Hatzimalousi Street, the home and winery of the Boutaris family in the early 20th century, houses the great project of BIBON. An impressive space of high architectural and cultural value that acts as a bridge between the rich history and the sustainable future of Greek Wine. Part of the network of the Public Central Library of Veria, BIBON is the first thematic library, a multidimensional space for study, research, education and interaction that offers access to specialized books and magazines, a reading room, electronic resources and databases. BIBON’s initial collection includes the donations of Dr. Stavroula Kourakou-Dragona and Yiannis Boutaris, as well as archival material from “Kyr-Yianni” and “Boutari Winery”. The aim is to continuously enrich the collection, while at the same time the creation of the first digital Wine Library with material (archives, labels, objects, photographs, etc.) from the winemakers of the region will also begin.
The inauguration of BIBON, on Sunday, November 9, is open to all, offering a rich program of events. Coinciding with the World Wine Tourism Day, the first Wine Library of our country is a unique destination. An essential stop, a meeting point and information about the wineries of the region, which deserves to have a place in the program of the visitor to Naoussa.
VIBON is supported by: Municipality of the Heroic City of Naoussa and the Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa.
