Call for entries
The Cretan Cuisine Festival Association, with the support of the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Minoas Pediada and the Arkalochori Cultural Association, is organising the Cretan Cuisine Festival for the 12th year running – a wonderful celebration dedicated to the gastronomic tradition and culture of Crete.
The 12th Cretan Cuisine Festival is a major cultural event dedicated to the island’s authentic cuisine, its rare traditional recipes and the folklore customs associated with them.
Through the participation of cultural associations and organisations from every corner of Crete, the deep connection between Cretan cuisine and the land, history and the daily life of rural communities is highlighted.
The programme for this year’s event:
Saturday, 1 August 2026
An evening celebrating the roots, memories and flavours of Cretan agricultural cuisine will be held at the headquarters of the FE.KK. Association in Apostoli Pediados.
Sunday, 2 August 2026
The main events of the Festival will take place at the Arkalochori Exhibition Centre, and will include:
- Traditional cooking
- Experiential workshops
- Weaving art exhibition
- Cooking activities for children, with the help of local grandmothers
- Musical performances and traditional Cretan dances, which complement the culinary experience and highlight the vibrant cultural identity of the place
At the same time, a themed evening will be held in the conference room of the Exhibition Centre on the following topic:
“The authentic rural cuisine of Crete”,
with a focus on the nutritional value of wild edible greens, olive oil and pulses, featuring scientists, doctors and nutritionists.
Call for Participation
The Cretan Cuisine Festival Association extends an open invitation to cultural associations and organisations from every corner of Crete to take part in this year’s event, showcasing local recipes and cultural elements from their region.
Interested parties can register until the end of June; participation is free.
