Call for participation
The Cretan Cuisine Festival Association, with the support of the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Minoas Pediada and the Cultural Association of Arkalochori, is organizing for the 12th year the Cretan Cuisine Festival, a great celebration dedicated to the gastronomic tradition and culture of Crete.
The 12th Cretan Cuisine Festival is an important cultural event, dedicated to the authentic cuisine of the island, the rare traditional recipes and the folklore customs that accompany them.
Through the participation of cultural associations and organizations from every corner of Crete, the deep relationship of Cretan food with the land, history and the daily life of rural people is highlighted.
The program of this year’s event:
Saturday, August 1, 2026
At the headquarters of the FE.KK. Association, in Apostoli Pediados, an evening dedicated to the roots, memories and flavors of the agricultural cuisine of Crete will be held.
Sunday, August 2, 2026
The main events of the Festival will be held at the Arkalochori Exhibition Center, which include:
- Traditional cooking
- Experiential workshops
- Weaving art exhibition
- Cooking activities for children with the participation of local grandmothers
- Musical performances and traditional Cretan dances, which frame the gastronomic experience and highlight the vibrant cultural identity of the place
In parallel, a thematic evening will be held in the conference room of the Exhibition Center on the theme:
“The authentic rural cuisine of Crete”,
with an emphasis on the nutritional value of wild edible greens, olive oil and legumes, with the participation of scientists, doctors and nutritionists.
Call for Participation
The Cretan Cuisine Festival Association extends an open invitation to cultural associations and organizations from every corner of Crete to participate in this year’s event, presenting local recipes and cultural elements of their region.
Interested parties can register until the end of June, while participation is free.
