The Innovation Business Observatory of the Region of Crete announces the organization of the 2nd Collaboration Room, dedicated to Blue Growth, a strategic area within the framework of the “Sustainable Use of Resources” of the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Region of Crete – RIS3Crete.

The Preparation Process of the 2nd Room
The organization and thematic sections of the 2nd Collaboration Room were based on an open preparation process, which included:
- Invitation to express interest to businesses and research laboratories of the innovation ecosystem of Crete
- Submission of proposals for cooperation and thematic areas of interest
- Thematic grouping of proposals based on common fields of application and development priorities

Four main thematic sections emerged from the analysis of the proposals, which reflect the main fields of interest and cooperation.
Thematic Modules
- Smart Water & Circular Economy – Water resources management, smart monitoring systems, reuse, sustainable practices and circular business models.
- Blue Energy & Hybrid Infrastructure – Renewable marine energy sources, energy synergies, hybrid systems and resilient infrastructure.
- Bio-Resources & Food Innovation – Marine bio-resources exploitation, biotechnology, development of innovative food products and high value-added applications.
- Blue Tourism & Coastal Protection – Sustainable tourism practices, coastal zone management, ecosystem protection and innovative experience services.
Structure & Implementation Process of the Collaboration Room
The event will be organized into 4 thematic discussion tables, one for each module.
At each table:
- Businesses and research laboratories with related or complementary subjects will participate
- There will be a coordinator, aiming at a structured recording of ideas and potential collaborations
- A discussion will be held focused on: Identification of common areas of interest – Formation of possible collaborations – Recording of next steps (pilot projects, research proposals, clusters, financial tools)
The goal of the 2nd Collaboration Room is the active networking and maturation of specific collaborative schemes in the field of Blue Growth in Crete.
